They have primary and alternate actions.   You right-click a desktop item to choose from a menu of alternate actions. Edit Inbox menu. Edit Network Neighborhood menu. Edit My Computer menu. Edit Recycle Bin menu.   You double-click a desktop item to perform its primary action. Change My Computer action.
